Québec

Québec's rules for online play

Québec's own online gaming site is lotoquebec.com, run by Loto-Québec. To play there, a person must be 18 or older, live in Québec and be physically in the province. The province has no system for licensing private online operators.

Québec's Ministry of Finance took up this point around 2016, in an analysis of regulatory impact. It wrote that, apart from Loto-Québec's site, all online gaming sites are illegal. A 2016 law ordered internet providers to block such sites. The Superior Court struck that law down in July 2018. That ruling does not make private sites legal.

The Kahnawà:ke Gaming Commission, or KGC, licenses online gaming within and from the territory. A KGC online licence is not an authorization from Québec. The question remains disputed between Kahnawà:ke and Québec.

The venue

Playground and fake online ads

No online gaming site of any kind is run by Playground. Its poker tables and gaming machines are on site at 1500 Route 138, and each player needs a Playground Player's card. Ads or sites that say Playground offers online gaming are fraudulent. In September 2023, the Kahnawà:ke Gaming Commission issued a warning about Facebook ads. Those ads falsely said that Playground offers online gaming.

This guide

The ads on this guide

Kahnawake Casino Guide is a reader's guide with no casino behind it, and the venue has no hand in it. Nobody bets here, and nobody keeps an account. Paid links exist only on the home page, three in all, each tagged Ad. One sits up in the header, one under the opening screen, one near the foot of the page.

A single private online casino receives all of them and pays this guide by commission; another partner may take its place. It is not lotoquebec.com and has no connection with any gaming venue in Kahnawà:ke. Québec has no licence for private online casinos, and the partner holds no authorization from Québec.
